Three Telecom Operators Announce Operating Results for May 2013

China’s three major telecom operators, China Mobile (00941: HKG; CHL: NYSE), China Unicom (00762: HKG), and China Telecom Co., Ltd. (00728: HKG) recently announced their operating results for May 2013.

According to the operating data released by China Mobile, the number of its 3G users increased by 9.37 million in May to the total of 129 million. As of the end of May 2013, the number of its customers had reached 735 million with a monthly addition of 4.61 million new customers in May.

According to China Unicom’s operating data for May, the number of 3G users in May increased 4.0 million to the total of 95.9 million. In addition, the number of mobile users increased 3.74 million to the total of 258 million.

According to China Telecom’s operating data, the number of 3G users increased 3.1 million in May, and mobile users increased 2.05 million. As the end of May 2013, China Telecom had a total of 84.2 million 3G users and 172 million mobile users.
